Horse adoption and rescue organizations offer horses a second chance by taking in unwanted and, abused horses and some of them are rescued from slaughter auction houses. These horses are then rehabilitated and are available for adoption to and qualified, caring homes. Most of these organizations are run by volunteers with the dedication and compassion for our equine friends.

Skydog Sanctuary has locations in Malibu and Mariposa California as well as our 9000 acre ranch near Bend Oregon.
Skydog Ranch is a forever home for wild mustangs and burros who have ended up in horrible and dangerous situations – at kill pens, at auctions, in unloving homes where they have often been starved and neglected. The horses here represent so many different aspects of the mustang issue, once rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management only to slip through the cracks and end up without the most basic care and affection.
All the wild horses and burros here are treated with the utmost kindness and respect and we leave in peace the ones who want to be left alone and give others the love and compassion that they have not experienced from people before.

Nestled in the rolling foothills of North Valley Center in San Diego County, FalconRidge Ranch was founded in 2002 in order to provide the care, rehabilitation, training and temporary or permanent home to unwanted, abused, neglected or slaughter bound horses. The average number of rescued horses at any time at FalconRidge is over 50. Hundreds of horses have been saved, trained, housed, or rehomed by the equine charity in the last five years.
