Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue is a 501(c)(3) Tax Deductible Non-Profit organization. All of our horses are rescued from auctions where we are their last chance before being sold to slaughter.

It all began with a horse, a child and a dream. It was a sweltering summer day in July 2010 when 10-year-old Marcus climbed atop Gabe, the former party pony adopted by Hope Reins to serve as the first official ‘equine counselor.’ The red-haired foster boy wore a broad smile and sat upright as his counselor led Gabe around the pasture – unaware that he was the first of many more hurting kids that would enter the gates of this special place.

Yes, Kim Tschirret had a dream. The Raleigh mom of two and former marketing executive with Thomas the Tank Engine had recently read a remarkable book that not only touched her heart deeply but evoked a sense of personal purpose – a passionate mission she later could only attribute to God’s artful plan.

“Hope Rising” was the book – and its author, Kim Meeder, chronicled heart wrenching stories of abused horses she and her husband, Troy, rescued and the hurting kids who began to find hope and healing themselves while helping care for the extraordinary horses. The Oregon couple witnessed the natural connection between emotionally and physically wounded kids and horses – and embarked on an amazing journey by founding Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch, which today is home to dozens of horses and has served thousands of kids and families.

Spirit to be Free is a non-profit animal sanctuary that rescues and rehabs dogs, horses, pigs, cats, goats, and sheep. Most of the animals are strays or abandoned.

Colorado Horse Rescue is a 501 [c] 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emergency relief, shelter, care, rehabilitation and adoption services for abused, neglected, abandoned and unwanted horses. CHR provides community resources through equine education, counseling, information and referral services. CHR is funded through private and individual donations, grants,, bequests and corporate sponsorships.

We provide refuge to animals that would otherwise be euthanized and to remove those who are in neglectful or abusive situations. Here they will be provided with the best nutrition, housing and love. Having room to roam and play, interact and socialize with other animals, the sanctuary gives a second chance to animals that would have no hope of a decent life, instilling trust in their hearts, so they may feel safe and loved.

Started in 2005, Equine Recline is a non-profit, horse rescue dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and retirement of horses. This is a place for horses to rest, relax, and recoup. Picture if you will a spa with the equine in mind. Our goal is to bring horses out of whatever darkness haunts their lives healing: body, mind, spirit, and soul.

Blue Rose Ranch, Inc. is dedicated to the care and rescue of horses. In addition, we train and rehabilitate horses to the end that they can be successfully adopted to qualified persons with qualified facilities. We believe in the therapeutic nature of the interaction between horses and people, and that working with horses promotes responsibility and self esteem. According to these beliefs, Blue Rose Ranch partners with Springfield and Baca County through our established youth riding and volunteer programs. We also welcome community, youth, and civic groups to the ranch.
